Professional Development Focus: Enhancing mathematical writing through the book study of Why Write in Math Class? (K-5).

❏Cohort C (Added due to popular demand): Tuesdays | Mar 18, Apr 22, May 6, May 20
Target Audience: K-5 educators, including individual teachers or school teams (coaches, coordinators, interventionists, administrators).
Learning Goals:
○Integrate writing strategies into math instruction using Eureka or Illustrative Mathematics.
○Develop student communication in mathematical reasoning and problem-solving.
○Implement CGI (Cognitively Guided Instruction) strategies for deeper conceptual understanding.
Commitments & Expectations:
○Participate in four virtual seminars.
○Engage in collaborative planning with school teams.
○Implement key concepts and writing strategies from the book.
○Provide artifacts demonstrating different types of math writing (exploratory, explanatory, argumentative, and creative).
