Description: Proficiency-Based Assessment Development Project

The Division of Instruction’s Secondary Science and Equitable Grading and Instruction (EGI) team, is seeking dedicated secondary science teachers to develop proficiency-based assessments for the newly piloted science learning targets.

Ideal candidates will have experience with learning targets, standards-based assessments, team collaboration, and a solid understanding of equitable grading and instructional practices. 

Candidates must commit to attending all five Saturdays, and compensation will be provided at the hourly rate.

Description: New Science Teacher Institute

During the Institute, new teachers of science with 1-5 years of experience will learn how to:

  • Develop NGSS-aligned lessons to spark curiosity and excitement
  • Engage in PDSA cycles to monitor progress
  • Engage every student in a collaborative setting
  • Support students with the needed skills to be Ready for the World
  • Provide a safe classroom environment for discourse and risk taking

Compensation

Teacher Hourly Rate

Virtual Meeting Dates: 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

October 19, 2024, February 22, March 15, April 5 and May 10, 2025

In-Person Meeting Dates (at Eagle Rock High School):  

8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

November 16, 2024 and January 25, 2025

Schools may request professional development on their adopted curriculum by filling out a Google Form. This offer is available for schools that adopt programs from Amplify, Discovery Education, HMH Science Dimensions, or Savvas.
