K-12 PD Opportunities

 Description: Sound Body Sound Mind Signature training for PE Teachers with Sound Body Sound Mind Gymnasiums 

Professional development training series for secondary schools that have Sound Body Sound Mind weight rooms. The Signature Training is one day, and will be offered four times. This six-hour training goes over the ins and outs of the entire Sound Body Sound Mind program. All teachers will leave with the knowledge of the SBSM Exercise Curriculum, the SBSM Nutrition Curriculum, SBSM fitness center general upkeep and maintenance, and much more! This training is perfect for teachers brand new to the SBSM program and veteran teachers alike! Lunch provided.

 Description: Curricular Map PE PD  for Secondary PE Teachers 

Professional development training on District Level Physical Education Curriculum Maps for teachers. DOI will collect data and receive feedback on Curriculum Maps via teacher survey.  Three training for middle school and three for high school teachers.

 Description: Combatives Training for High School PE Teachers

Certificated training rate for high school teachers  participating in a boxing and self- defense training  during non-work hours (Saturdays). Teachers will learn teaching strategies and increase their content knowledge in order to align their instruction to the State Framework and PE standards

 Description: Sound Body Sound Mind Mini PD Series

Provide PD "Creating an Inclusive Environment". This virtual training session will be led by Dr. Melissa Bittner, Professor of Kinesiology for California State University Long Beach. During this session, participants will gain a deeper understanding of working with students with disabilities, learn exercise modification techniques, and grow their knowledge and skills necessary to create inclusive environments within their PE classes.
